Group Adventures!
At Hostelling Scotland we want to support young people to discover Scotland and have a wide range of opportunities to learn outside the classroom.
Schools and youth groups have been welcomed in youth hostels since the beginning of Hostelling Scotland back in 1931. Although the hostels have changed, the ethos of welcoming young people has remained and our youth hostels provide a great environment for young people to come and stay.

What we offer
Best locations
We have city hostels for youth and schools groups looking to explore the bright lights of Scotland’s vibrant cities, as well as hostels in the beautiful national parks of Cairngorm and Loch Lomond. We have hostels which are accessible by public transport, and hostels which are off the beaten track.
Great facilities
We have hostels which can provide full catering, including a packed lunch for groups on the go. We have larger hostels which can accommodate groups of 60 or more, options for groups to book entire floors or areas of a hostel, and even a self-contained lodge at Oban Youth Hostel with its own kitchen and living room that’s ideal for smaller youth and school groups. Our youth hostels have dining areas suitable for large groups, a garden or grounds, and many also have a TV room. All venues have a well-equipped self-catering kitchen.
Quality Assured
Our youth hostels are externally risk-assessed to current legal and best practice standards and graded by VisitScotland, so groups can be assured of safe and secure quality accommodation and good service upon arrival. Our knowledge hostel teams can provide recommendations of local facilities and sights. We can offer flexible accommodation and catering packages from bed and breakfast to fully catered trips throughout the year. We can also support groups that wish to self-cater.
Costs
We have a range of fantastic offers for schools and youth groups including 1 free teacher/leader place per 20 young people, and private rooms for teachers/leaders (subject to availability).
