Families
We are a family friendly hostel, and have two
rooms set up just for families on holiday. We can provide
kids games, videos and consoles whilst you are staying and have a
purpose built play park next to the hostel. Kids will love
visiting the Loch Ness Monster Exhibition, boat trips on the Loch
and scary Urquhart Castle at night.
Walkers
Drumnadrochit sits in the centre of some of the finest walking
countryside in Europe. There are many short walks with fine
views in and around the village. But for the true cinematic
visions a trip to Glen Affric or to the top of Meal Fourvonie,
where most of the Great Glen and Inverness can be seen on a clear
day, are a must. Details of all of the walks are provided at
the hostel, along with maps and route cards. Walks range from
30 mins with no hills, to 5-6 hours with a packed lunch
provided.
Active & Adventure
We can organise horse riding from a number of
stables. Fishing and boat trips on the Loch and river can be
arranged at most times of the year. Bikes can be hired and
delivered to the hostel for your enjoyment and are a great way to
see the area.
Great Glen Way
The Great
Glen Way connects Fort William with Inverness passing the famous
Loch Ness.

Wildlife
From the hostel it is common to see Roe deer
grazing nearby alongside our friendly Highland Cows. There
are otters in the cover and on the Loch, and on the right day you
might catch a glimpse of Nessie.
A short trip to Glen Affric will take you to
true wilderness country where you can watch Ospreys fishing at
Corrimony and Golden Eagles over the peaks.
Greater numbers of buzzards and red kites are
now being spotted, alongside rarer sightings of Slavonian
Grebes.
A short walk from the hostel takes you into
the ‘cover’ where many woodland birds can be observed, including
woodpeckers and kingfishers. Nearby, at Abraichan Community
Woodland, a purpose built hide allows water birds and the pine
martin to be seen, along a fun children’s woodland walk.
