Broadmeadows

Photo of Hostel

Broadmeadows was the first SYHA Youth Hostel, opened in 1931 – a pilgrimage for true hostellers. This small, friendly hostel is set in the historic Scottish Borders, surrounded by wonderful countryside. Mountain bikers have only a half-hour drive to the superb 7stanes trails at Glentress Forest, whilst walkers can follow the Southern Upland Way to Traquair House, museum and brewery. There's pony trekking and excellent trout and salmon fishing locally, as well as some very scenic cycle routes. Visit the ruins of Newark Castle and Yarrow Kirk or spot bunnies, pheasants, sheep, highland cows and much more in the flowery gardens nearby.
