City Hostels

We have 4 and 5-star hostels in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Inverness and Stirling, all close to the centre of the city and offering first-class facilities with a value price.  All offer extended opening hours, and are ideal bases for exploring Scotland’s vibrant cities, with excellent shopping, art galleries, entertainment, restaurants and bars.

In the summer, we open extra hostels in Edinburgh and St Andrews, all with en-suite single or double rooms.  These hostels provide extra accommodation if you want to explore Edinburgh at festival time or visit the famous golfing town of St Andrews.  

Glasgow – the Style Capital

Known as Scotland’s style capital it’s easy to see why Glasgow is the UK’s favourite shopping city outside London.  Designer names such as Emporio Armani, Hugo Boss and Diesel are in evidence alongside all the top high street names. For those wishing to explore and absorb the culture, Glasgow offers some of the best free museums and art galleries in Scotland. The popular Kelvingrove Art Gallery and the Gallery of Modern Art are not to be missed.

Edinburgh – a World Class City
City HostelsVisitors from around the world flock here: with stunning Victorian and Georgian architecture, magnificent views and a spectacular setting, it’s easy to see why Edinburgh is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the perfect place to start or end a visit to Scotland, but there is so much to do that you could easily fill a week or so without leaving the city.

Many of the best places to visit in Edinburgh are justifiably world-famous.  Visit the Castle, the Royal Yacht Britannia or Holyrood palace, which the Queen uses for state occasions when visiting Scotland. Numerous museums and art galleries cater for the culture vultures, while the excellent Botanic Gardens and the outstanding Our Dynamic Earth experience are very popular with families.

The Edinburgh International Festival runs during August, and is accompanied by the even more popular Fringe Festival – an amazing three weeks of the best and most varied programme of entertainment in the world. Edinburgh fills up very quickly at this time of year, so make sure you book early!

Edinburgh also boasts some fantastic shopping – everything from Harvey Nichols and Jenners through to high street stores and funky designer boutiques. On the Royal Mile there are many unique independent shops selling everything from Scottish tartans and cashmere to art and jewellery.

Our 5-star Edinburgh Central Hostel is situated in one of the best locations in the heart of the city. Only 5 minutes from Waverly station, it is stylish, modern and furnished to the highest standards to suit the needs of single travellers, families and groups. Bedrooms range from single and twin rooms through to 8 bedded dorms, and all are en-suite. The hostel has a licensed bistro and restaurant as well as self-catering facilities.
 
Inverness – the Capital of the Highlands

There is plenty to see and do in the city itself, and it is also a great base for exploring further afield within the Scottish Highlands. Visit historic sites such as Culloden Moor or Urquhart Castle, or follow the Whisky Trail to some of the many whisky distilleries in the area.
 
You may want to take a boat trip to spot bottlenose dolphins in the Moray Firth or along Loch Ness to see if you can spot Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster? For the more adventurous, there are local opportunites for white water rafting, mountain biking and sea kayaking.

The atmosphere in the city is friendly and relaxed, and as the main city for the population of the huge geographical area of the Highlands, it comfortably mixes charm with an excellent range of high street shops and designer boutiques.

Inverness Youth Hostel has superb facilities, with many en-suite rooms. It’s also close to both the city centre and public transport links. The 4-star hostel is known for its warm welcome and you might find yourself wanting to stay an extra few days in this interesting city. 
 
Aberdeen – the Granite City
Aberdeen seafrontA bustling City with everything from culture and attractions to a lively music and nightlife scene. Located near to the sea, the city is within easy reach of the countryside and the nearby Cairngorm Mountain Range. Aberdeen is also just a short distance from beautiful Royal Deeside with historic castles and ruins set amidst amazing scenery with an abundance of wildlife all year round.

Hit the high street for some retail therapy where your find all the usual names and department stores along with designer and boutique shops. For something a bit different watch out for the traditional German and Farmers markets around the city. Aberdeen boasts many good restaurants and if you enjoy seafood then you can enjoy some of the excellent local fresh fish on offer.

Our city-based 4-star Aberdeen Hostel has excellent catering and self-catering facilities, plenty of private rooms and is close to public transport links. It’s an ideal base to explore the city and the surrounding area.

Stirling – the Gateway to the Highlands
Steeped in history and close to the beautiful Trossachs National Park and the magical Ochil Hills, Stirling is a fascinating place to visit. Enjoy a bus tour around the city and learn the real Braveheart story, visit the Wallace Monument (commemorating the life of Scotland’s most famous warrior, William Wallace) and take a trip to Stirling Castle.

Although one of Scotland’s smaller cities, Stirling has all the high street names and a great shopping centre, along with restaurants and bars for all tastes.  On the outskirts of Stirling is the Victorian spa town the Bridge of Allan, where you’ll discover quaint tea rooms, excellent restaurants and smaller boutiques and where you will be sure to find something a little bit special!

Our 4-star Stirling Hostel is only a few metres from Stirling Castle and offers superb en-suite rooms, modern facilities and a friendly international atmosphere. Close to transport links, the hostel is ideally situated to explore this historic town, or you could use it to explore further afield in Central Scotland.
