Essential Scotland Tour

Return to Holiday Ideas

Visit Kilchurn Castle on the Essential Scotland Tour A spectacular 4-day tour of the highlights of Scotland, taking in cities, mountains, lochs and glens, with an overnight stay in a genuine Highland castle. Travel in a luxury coach with an expert guide and take advantage of a range of optional activities at some of the best locations across the country

The tour leaves on Monday from Glasgow, Stirling and Edinburgh hostels.

Our route takes you across to the scenic west coast, stopping at some of Scotland’s most famous castles, to Oban, with the option of an evening cruise to a local seal colony.

Then we travel through the spectacular glens to Glen Nevis and on to Loch Ness.  The route through Cannich and Beauly leads to the second night’s stop, at Carbisdale Castle, once home to the King of Norway and now “one of the most opulent youth hostels in the world” according to Lonely Planet.

The next day brings you back south, through the mountains of the Cairngorms National Park, where you can choose to feed the reindeer, enjoy a range of watersports, or visit the bustling town of Aviemore.

On Thursday, our journey home takes you along the River Spey to Pitlochry, a beautiful Victorian town in Highland Perthshire, with an optional detour to visit the smallest distillery in Scotland.  The tour ends on Thursday evening with drop-off stops in Stirling, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
