recreational based programmes to meet your specific
requirements.
Meeting the needs of our educational
groups
SYHA is well aware of the demands placed upon
teachers and we understand the pressures involved in organising a
successful school trip. There are many ways in which we can support
you and make the process of organising a residential trip a lot
easier.
We have developed National Curriculum-linked packages in
partnership with key national attractions, heritage and countryside
organisations. These packages combine good value accommodation with
activities linked to the key outcomes of the 5-14 Curriculum. Our
programmes are designed to assist teachers in delivering elements
of the Personal & Social Development and Environmental Studies
Curriculum.
In addition, we provide flexible itineraries which are tailored
to meet individual requirements, offering a “one-stop” solution to
effective residential school trips.
We provide:
- Accommodation in top quality SYHA hostels
- Prepared itineraries
- Return coach travel
- Free teacher place for every 10 pupils (UK schools
only)
- Full-board catering in selected hostels
- Examples of itineraries & full costings are available on
request
- Flexible trip durations
Examples of our 15-14 curriculum-linked
packages
- Environmental Studies
- Mary Queen of Scots
- the Jacobite Rebellion
- The Victorians in Scotland
- The Industrial Revolution
Personal and Social Development
The main
outcomes of Personal and Social Development are developing
self-awareness, self-esteem, interpersonal relationships,
independence and interdependence. SYHA feels that through
residential experiences coupled with team-building activities,
participants will benefit from learning and achievement in the
outdoors.
Outdoor education is recognised as providing valuable
educational opportunities in many of the 5-14 Curriculum
Guidelines. The above packages are designed to introduce young
people to new learning experiences, combining adventure skills and
areas of the curriculum which are difficult to achieve in a
classroom environment.
Tailored packages
Most teachers and youth
leaders are amazed to find out that we provide off-the-peg or
tailor made packages which will include itineraries, pre-booked
trips, transport, accommodation and catering, to meet individual
needs.
